Xenon gone pink and £500 to replace? Help!
My 2002 75CDT offside dipped beam headlamp now goes pink-orange after a few seconds use.
Various garages tell me that a) OEM replacement bulbs are currently not available b) replacing the entire headlamp assembly instead is circa £500 and c) you don't know if it's the bulb or igniter or ballast until you've got the bumper off and the headlight out ..... at which point I have no car! Does anyone know of any alternative solutions or ideas please? I've read several threads but can't find a good way forward yet and it's the wrong time of year to have only 1.5 headlights. I believe these are the replacement burner for Xenons, doesn't help if the ballast has gone but its a start

i think your going to have to remove the bumper and both lights and do some swapping over of parts to see what is wrong,if its the bulb then theyre around £30 quid for a pair off ebay.
whereabouts are you,i have some bulbs spare if you were local to me |

Xenon gone pink and £500 to replace? Help!
I'm told that the Xenon burner and ballast are currently on back order with no date, so that leaves anyone with failing xenons with a problem. DS2 35w 4300K HID appear quite widely available on the web, so I'm going to try DIY with those and hope it isn't the cap ballast .....
Plan B is to instal a pair of conventional headlights instead, that don't have all this grief when a bulb fails! |

just asked a mate whos a mechanic at an audi garage that have a lot of vehicles with xenons, hes had it a few times in his workshop and its the ballast thats failed so if thats the case, not good news for us guys if theyre on back order,i think if mine went i would try an aftermarket ballast from one of the kits widely available.
