Default Why is Ebay so messy?

Sold (or thought I had ) my elderly caravan via Ebay - I was totally honest, advertised it as "useable, but damp" specified where the damp was, and included the words "for spares or repair" in the advert title. Starting price £350 - went for £460 - and then the problems begin.
Buyer is trying to argue that because I described the water supply, gas hob, fridge and 12 volt / 240 volt electrics/charger system - as "fully working" (which they are!) - then I should supply him with:
  1. A gas bottle
  2. A mains hook-up lead
  3. A 12 volt leisure battery
  4. 12 volt water pump (submersible type, not built-in)
.... as without those items, they "are not fully working"
... and he feels it would have been a nice gesture to include the fresh water Aquaroll too!
To be fair, I didn't specify in the advert that they WEREN'T included - but neither did I specify that they WERE
Am I being tight - or is he expecting too much

Buyers expect the world through eBay, I used to sell quite a bit for the business through it but the public expect and because eBay generally weighs in their favour demand more than they ever would if they were shopping in the high street. As a seller if you are not happy, don't sell.

I think you are being reasonable, if you sold a car and stated its capable of 400 miles on a tank of fuel, would he expect it to have a full tank ? If you have to re-list , just point out that the previous buyer refused to buy on the grounds you have stated. At least that way the next buyer will know where they stand and can bid accordingly.Good luck.

I used to use ebay a lot, I hardly ever use it these days, not worth the agro and ebay always favour the low life buyer...

Makes you wonder why such a company advertises on TV these days, they wouldnt need to if the company was still good.

To my mind it is full of fraud and basically businesses these days...

Having just sold one myself like that, but not via Ebay...

Those items are never included as part of the sale, even if you buy a new caravan. The dealers call them a starter package and often charge extra for them, or give them by way of a discount. I did state it included the pump, but didn't metion whether it or did not include any of the other items. Having sold it, I then gave several extras like a spare wheel, a stabiliser and a Hitchdrive as a goodwill gesture.

They are the accessories, not something you can just expect to be with a caravan. I would suspect the buyer has had a change of mind on the deal and is looking for a way out of it. My buyer had my old one repaired to his satisfaction, within just a few days - buyer happy, seller happy. Stick to your guns.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

The buyers chancing there arm with you.
You could always second chance offer it to the next highest bidder or relist as already advised.

Just explain why the highest is refusing to take it.

Sounds as though you listed honestly & the guys just trying to get you to fund what he needs to get it up & running.
Just be lucky he's not wanted the car included to tow it with.
