Default Todays activities

After the good lady's recovery and improvement from a full hip replacement, today we decided to do that which she has not been able to do for several years...

Before the "op" Karen could not walk more than 100 meters without considerable discomfort, this made many activities difficult to impossible...

This morning, less than 5 months after the op we set out for a walk at about 08:30... 3 miles later after following the river, several parks and the high street, we thought we would stop at the Christmas market as they started to set up for the day.

We cam across a fresh baked goods stall and left with...

1 Apple Danish
1 Peach and custard Danish
1 Belgian bun (mega size)
2 Iced cinnamon twists (forearm size)
and 3 big mince pies...

Then popped into Greggs and got 2 whole milk Latte's and 2 hot sausage rolls.

I tell you what, I did not think I would enjoy this keep fit lark but I can now say hand on heart.... it ain't that bad...

I can really recommend this walking lark as a great way to keep fit and get away from the stresses of everyday life. Earlier this year, we did part of the Wainwright Coast-to-Coast walk in the Lake district. As part of our training for the walk, we took the train from Whittlesey to March, then walked back along the river - about 11 miles. Walking in the Fens does not fully prepare you for the hills/mountains, but you get used to carrying the rucksack and it keeps the joints moving. We wrote up our Coast-to-Coast walk as a blog on our cottage website - link below if anyone is interested

If you get yourself a dog you will find yourself exploring the countryside every day. Small dogs will keep will keep you fit. We have a couple of Bichon Frise (lovely nature) crosses which keep us well excercised
