I use BiltHamber Auto Balm for a base wax, topped up with BiltHamber Finesse Does what it says on the tin I'll also move this to the Valeting section, more of a refined section

I prefer to give the car a good wash, clay and a light polish. Then cover it in 2 coats of Reload (with about 4 hours in between). And then after 1 week a good wash and another coat of Reload. That will give me nice beads for a month or 5 or 6.

If I really have the time I just drive the car in the workshop, give a proper detailing and then apply something like CQUK, PLE22 or Gyeon MOHS. Just to give it that long lasting 18 month protection.

For this winter however, I'm putting 3 new homebrewes to the test. 3 new hybrid winter-wax to try out before their release coming summer.

Thumbs up

Depends how much what you wanna spend! I just bought 2 wash mits, snow foam, auto wash, auto balm, auto wheels, cleanser, clay bars and some pads, micro fibre towels all from bilt hamber, not much change from £80.

Some people like just detailing their car, some people just want to do it every 6 months but if your on a budget wilko's product is certainly better than nothing.

I've started doing my own car simply because i got sick and tired of having it washed by a "valeting specialist" who did a so sojob and paying £20 for the privelege so £80 that can be done 20 times and the knowledge of it doing it correctly is worth it in my book!

I have quite a few but for winter protection I always use
Collinite No. 476 lasts about 6 months

very easy to apply and buff off...only do not use a lot when you apply...thin coats is all that is required

I've never heard of any of the stuff mentioned! Is there a specialist retailer
somebody could direct me to, I wouldn't mind having a look at what's available and what it does.

A few good ones:
www.waxamomo.co.uk
www.elitecarcare.co.uk
And there are loads more .

Like Wooly said, it depends on what you want. If you only want the best and money is no object, than you can spent as much as you want. If you just want a little bit more shine/protection or cleanliness, than you could do it on a budget.
Some people just don't really care and just hose it off every 2 weeks and leave it at that.
The above webshops give you acces to a wide range of products, from the cheaper "slightly-better-then-halfords" products, to "money-is-no-object" products.

A little sidenote might be that in some cases, the more expensive items do need a bit more experience/knowledge to use them to their full potential.

If your not much more experienced than just washing and claying, then I would personally recommend to give Carpro Reload a try. It's really easy to use, very versatile (paint, rubbers, trims, windows etc.) and isn't ridiculous expensive (but more expensive then wax).

You might also wanna look into 2-bucket washing, microfiber drying towel, car APC (for those little nasty places), car shampoo and a microfiber washmitt.
(if you think it might be worth those extra pounds...)
