That's just the basic mobile version The full kit costs a lot more than that
Originally the full dealer kit came in two versions @£16000 for the large dealer kit and @£12000 for the smaller dealer version IIRC. Later versions without the trolly and printer used to be approx £4,500 up to a couple of years ago. Dealer versions do come up for sale from time to time and fetch anything from £1600 upwards depending on condition and if it's all there or not Russ

It depends on what you are trying to do, if all you want is a code reader you can get these from about £10 plus the postage from China,. A good middle point is the tools a lot of garages use made by companies like Snap On, used these can be picked up from £150 upwards used off Ebay. I borrow one when I need it and what they can do on some vehicles is amazing considering they are not factory tools.
Personally I think anybody with an interest in the health of there modern car should have a basic code reader/clearer in there glovebox. At least with one of these you can see what is wrong if a light comes on and maybe even clear the code. Treat it like the screwdriver and socket set your father would have carried around. |

If you buy a cheap one you will get a generic trouble code. 99% of diagnostic scanners for DIY people will not have MG Rover on them as they ceased to exist over 13 years ago. I go to loads of jobs and I see cheap Chinese scanners in the footwell where they have had a go. If you do get a code just match it up to what Rover say the code means. You dont want to be spending loads on a gadget you hopefully wont need very often. Better still try to hook up with a member nearby who might have one and get them to take a look at your car for the price of a pint or two.
Anyone in or around my area is free to contact me if they need anything reading F.O.C. |

Just download Toaf for free, it does pretty much all you'll need, but be careful if you don't know what you're doing.

As above, I fine that TOAF works well for reading codes and changing options.
