Alloy Wheel refurb...
Anyone here had alloys refurbished in/around Birmingham?
Just got some Apex's but one of them is quite badly kerbed so I thought, before I fit them, I'd get them all refurbished. Had a scoot around the interweb for local specialists so got a couple of quotes to come, but was wondering if anyone had used one locally that they'd recommend. Pointers greatly appreciated. |

Given City Powdercoaters are in your area they must be the obvious choice, would love to have them nearby for my wheel needs...

Do these guys do actual full refurbs (ie, remove all the scratches, dents & kerbmarks) or are they, as the name suggests, just powdercoaters?

City Powder Coaters Ltd.
Depends on how bad the damage is, not all wheels are repairable.
With the amount of wheels these guys refurb a week if they cannot repair it themselves, they will know someone who can. Plenty of posts on here showing their work. Go and see them! Tom.

I had a poor set of 11 spokes done locally with lots of corrosion and the guy said he spent a whole day just sorting the corrosion aspect... He now knows to avoid MG wheels or quote higher |

Autosmart think £50 a wheel in stock silver only warrants the face of the wheel being painted, any other work is an extra 20 a wheel, and the finish is awful, also they don't know how to use a rotary polisher for paint rectification (I bought a da and got better results with no experience) and they charge £130 for a medium car... shame most of the reasonable and talented workmen live further north

Did a quick search for City Powdercoaters, mixed reviews. While there are plenty of satisfied customers (mainly the racers who want pink wheels), there are a few horror stories on other manufacturers forums.
Think I'll give them a miss. |
