Default rover 75 key locked in the trunk

hello,

my brother is a new owner of a 2000's rover 75, 1800 cmc benzin but he have a not nice problem:
- being in hurry, he closed the key inside of the trunk.
I have checked the forum but the replies to other cases are done on private message.
Please give us a relevant advice (not breaking the windows.. ).

it is a electrical locker? can be triggered throught the front door edge if the unit knows the doors are locked from outside by the key?

any advice today will be helpfully due our location in a county side.

thank you all!

hi this happened to me 3 yrs ago, i ended us smashing the drivers window and climbing in
to the car, to my horror the boot release still wouldnt work, i ended up using a hammer and chisel ,cutting a hole in the boot lid to retrieve my keys, luckily i had spare glass and boot lid the same colour, bill

I doubt this will help but -to ask the blindingly obvious - presumably he doesn't have a 2nd key, forgotten in the heat of the moment . . . ?

Interesting! Judging by the replies there seems to be a way to into a locked rover without a key or a brick! I would imagine that professional car thieves would know of this.
Is it something i should be worried about??

Yes unfortunately there is an extremely quick and easy way to open some of the boots. That's why I modified mine.

As in all matters security though the less it is discussed the better.

hi
this happened to me not long ago fortunately i have key cover and they sent a lock smith out and sorted it out no problems and no damage the key cover only costs me £20 each year through a company called westinsure

well worth it in my case and they gave me a second key all programmed
plus there is no excess to pay

might be worth a thought for the future?

Is it just the boot thats easy to access or the whole car? I can happily live with an insecure boot .

There are ways to get in but they don't work in all cases, like mine!
I had to break the drivers side window, drop the back seat and retrieve my key from the boot.
Even when you break the window you still need to get the key as the doors are deadlocked.
I don't know why one of the previous posters had to break a window and cut a hole in the bootlid! Dave

PS I know have 2 keys!
