Default Raphael Ravenscroft - Baker Street Saxophone Soloist

Just seen on the news that Raphael Ravenscroft sadly passed away over night from a suspected heart attack at aged just 60.

He's best known for what I'd say is the most Iconic and recognisable saxophone solo ever from Gerry Rafferty's hit Baker Street in 1978.

Don't get music like that any more.

RIP.

It indeed isn't, RIP Raphael Ravenscroft.

Remember hearing that song in my last years of school. Was so impressed with that sax solo we did a cover of the song along with others for a charity in the school drama hall for each of the school years.
My friend was a grade 8 sax player and had it down note for note which is more than can be said for the rest of us struggling around the song like the orchestra in Carry On Teacher

There was a rumour going around for a lot of years that the Saxohonist was Bob "Ill have a pee please Bob" Holeness.
