Tourer spare wheel storage tray
Hi, if anyone has the 'pre project drive' storage tray, in good condition, that sits on top of and inside the spare wheel of the tourer models I would be interested in buying one. Thanks John

I've got one in mine. Is there only one type, or do you mean they just did away with it altogether as standard equipment? I don't want to get rid, but it must be an easy thing to cast and make a fibreglass copy of if you can't get one to buy.

This is the tourer set that is in 3 parts, the L & R poly tool tray sides that fit around the wheel well, and the centre fabric tray. Is it the fabric tray you want, I know a scrapyard that has one oop north he wants £35 + postage

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's spec
So, there is more than one version. Here's mine. 2 parts with tools in the middle, badly fitting round the edge of the well and no badge! I don't think it's because I have a skinny spare, because your tray seems to be as deep as mine, Devilish. I must be the victim of this project drive thing. May the Lord make me grateful for simply having a spare wheel (but then where can I put my giant woofer?) Cheers

I got the L & R poly tool tray from a internet scrappy part finding website, First Choice or something, £30 or £40 posted, and the tools were with it. They replace the poly sides that are there already. You will need the big cream spare wheel clamping bolt and a couple of the black spacers because the top edges of the fabric tray rests on the poly tool tray, the hole in the bottom of the fabric tray fits on top of the spare wheel bolt. I first saw it in the tourers of Wolves 75 & WIDE LOAD. The badge was their idea, it is a piece of wood cut into a disc, and a printed vinyl. It does not wedge in, if you look there are 3 or 4 little standout ledges that the wood sits on about 1" deep. I am covering it with perspex to protect it when I get the new vinyl made, the one i have did not turn out the right colour.

Wheel tray
Quote:
Our tool trays are different. Mine has a 2nd recess in the lip next to the one that (on yours) fits nicely round the base of the load space floor support arm. It doesn’t on mine, because I can’t move the tray forward, due to the way it fits into the spare wheel. Perhaps if the tray was raised above the level of the rim of the wheel well – like yours – I could. However I would then have a big gap at the other end, which I’d have to carve a piece of polystyrene or something to fit. I’ll look on Rimmers website to see if I can identify why there’s a difference. Could be mine’s from a saloon or something. Ta muchly

Found more information here which explains a lot. "Continual improvement" they'd call it where I work.

If the full size tool storage is fitted, the fabric tray is quite loose fit, there ia about 5mm gap all the way round between the tray & the tool storage lip the tray, never seen the small semi circle cut out before, csnnot think of what it is for, are you sure it has not been filed away for something

I might just contact the previous owner to find out what he had fitted. In the nearside front wing there's a mystery (to me) clear plastic bag containing the end of a wiring loom that's not in use at the moment. Cheers
