Default Spa Grand Prix Aug2010

As promised a few pictures from my weekend at the Belgium Grand Prix

Photo's taken with my Canon Eos 7D and Sigma 150-500mm o/s lens shooting through a wire catch fence which proved to be a pain in the you know what!
Great time,
Got a bit wet towards the end!!!

Nice pictures, Jeff. You certainly picked a great race to go to. I've great memories of Spa - my last visit there co-incided with Rubens pole position with Jordan in '94, I think and he's still going strong!

Thanks Tony,

Had a great time but the 10 hour slog to get back to Calais (long story) rather took it out of us.
I'll stick to Silverstone next year me thinks!
The Mg took it all in it's stride though

Great pics. Best circuit in F1. I was there in 1996 - we drove from Aberdeen to Hull on the Thursday, took the overnight ferry to Zeebrugge, then drove straight down to Spa on the Friday, just in time for the practice sessions.

Problem was, we had 3 day tickets, but we hadn't booked any accommodation! It was all a bit last minute.

So after practice ended, we had to search for a hotel. And of course everywhere was fully booked up! Eventually we managed to find a room, but it was in a completely different COUNTRY than the circuit!

(ok, it was just over the border in Aachen, Germany... only 10 miles away... but still...!)

Funny you should say that,
We stayed in Aachen, Germany too.
It was nearer than anything available in Belgium and we booked the hotel and tickets in March!

We stayed in the Holiday Inn in Aachen, it was very nice.

On the way back to Zeebrugge on the Monday, our ferry wasn't leaving until at 6pm, so we decided to stop off and see Brussels on the way. It was shut!! Seems it was some kind of a local holiday and it was deserted, everywhere was closed. Was very weird!

We went up to Bruges instead, lovely place with lots of canals. Went to a cafe, and the waitress appeared, I asked for drinks in French. She indicated that she didn't understand. So I switched to German. Still didn't understand. Then English. Nothing. I found out later that apparently some people in the area refuse to recognise any language other than Flemish (how she kept her job as a waitress in a city that has a high number of tourists, I'll never know!) So in the end I had to resort to pointing at the drinks menu...
