Default No speedometer

Hi

Speedo has just stopped and the abs light is on. On my previous car when the same happened I had a new bearing fitted but it was not done correctly and as a result I bought a 2nd hand replacement hub assembly and just put that on instead, which worked. Tried it this time but just the same. Has anyone had experience of changing the hub bearing as this is what I would prefer to do rather than trying another 2nd hand hub assembly, with possibly the same result.

I had the same thing with mine it was the ABS leads just on the grommets where they hold on tight.
They had perished and as I turned it made them come into contact with the car. Drove me mad for a while but its ok now. Try pulling them of the holder if the speedo comes back & the ABS light goes out its probably the same. I wrapped some insulating tape around them and put them back in the holder. Short term fix I know but at least I can't get done for speeding. Good luck.

I have just tried that with a known sensor from my other car. When connected abs light goes out, but as soon as the car is driven - no speedo and abs light on, so I feel it must be the wheel bearing.

As I said the last time this happened I tried to get the wheel bearing changed but the garage made a mess of it and I replaced the whole hub with a 2nd hand unit.

It cannot be to difficult to change these wheel bearings.
