Getting wiring to rear of car
Don't suppose there's an idiot's guide anywhere to routing a cable from the head unit to the boot?
I want to install an Android DD unit with a reversing camera, but I'm wondering on the best way to get the connecting cable installed. I remember Arctic lifting bits of my carpet, trim etc to fit a new compensator many years ago, but I think some clips or scrivets are broken in the process, and you need to get new ones...? Any help at all will be much appreciated

When I did mine Roger, i ran the wire along to the n/side, then removed the plastic kick plate over the sill, it slides back off the clips, lifted the carpet and ran the cable underneath, front and back door. If you tilt the rear back seat, you can access the boot. Run the cable behind the trim in the boot, I used the reverse light as a trigger for the camera, used the rear light screw as an earth, and jobs jobbed.

Thanks Ron - now that you've made the mistake of replying, I'll probably be picking your brains when I come to do the job
Did you mount the camera in the underside of the number plate lights?

always go the shortest route, right down the side of the centre tunnel, under the rear seat into the boot then onwards round the spare wheel well, to your fixing point, is another way.
Don't ask for photos i don't have any for this job

Cheers Steve - I won't know till poke around a bit which method feels easiest to me. What you say sounds like sense, but will I have to pull carpets up, break clips, lift the centre console up or whatever Won't know till I try - haven't got the unit yet

Well, I managed it, by a combination of what everybody's said above, I think.
Hardest bit was getting the plug on the end of the video cable through the flexi hose by the boot hinge
