![]() I've noticed that there now seems to be a stream of whirring and chugging, electrical noises coming from the ecu upon turning the key on and after turning off. Anyone encountered this before? Lasts about 5 seconds

![]() The 1.8's have an idle air control valve on the inlet manifold, it has a stepper motor which moves a piston inside the valve which regulates the air and therefore the rpm at idle. The stepper motor runs to reset itself whenever the ignition is switched to off and you can hear it whirr while it does this for a few seconds after each engine shutdown. Could it not be this that you are hearing?

![]() Like the aviation mechanic's joke about pilot's report :
"heard sounds from behind dash that sounded like someone using a hammer on components" reply from mechanic was "removed hammer" Maybe the gremlin needs his or her tools removed. Fnarrr ![]() +1 on heater flaps |

![]() Thanks for the replies. I think it may well be the heater. It only started doing it this morning though. Audibly anyhow.
Lots of electrics on these cars eh? surprising. |
