Yep, not very elegant but the backplate was all rusted and nothing on it was worth preserving. Incidentally I've been hunting for a new n/s backplate for some months - Rimmers have been out of stock and only a rusty old one appeared on eBay. No shortage of o/s ones for some reason. Anyway Rimmers now have them in stock but as complete assembly - brake shoes springs etc - no bad thing but at a cost of £98 delivered.
