Exclamation Rear callipers ......What a numpty !

Well I feel like a right tatie ! After rebuilding the front of the Connie I thought I'd replace the rear callipers as one has been binding in the past and has a broken nipple. I got a good deal for a pair I from EBay so when they arrived I gave them a coat of calliper paint and left them in the garage to dry for a week. I've gone to fit one and it's too wide for the solid disc. I can't return them now so my question is, would a vented rear disc be a direct replacement for the solid type as if so would save a lot of further grief

I'd just list the calipers for sale on here - you'll have to join as a member (from memory) but it's only cheap - plus supports the club.

We have the correct calipers here: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/rov...ob100020-oem-q

This is why it's usually worth a few quid extra to get them from a specialist - we know the cars inside out, and it's very rare an issue such as yours occurs.

Thank you for the reply. I’ve managed to get the correct callipers locally and I’m back on the road. I’ve also just ordered some calliper bolts from you as they also need replacing. I’ve decided to keep the wider callipers for a future upgrade. If I can get the correct pad carriers I can then fit the vented discs to my diesel automatic as I’m about to fit a tow bar to pull a caravan. The slimmer callipers I can put on my manual tourer which still has the original 22 year old parts that are still in good working order but a bit rusty. I’ve owned 75’s since 2001 so a few spare parts never come in wrong .
