Rob,

I don't have a tourer but I have read the technical description and looked at the wiring diagram.

In order to help, could you explain exactly what the problem is please. For example, are you unable to open the tailgate? If yes, do you have a key barrel in the bodywork and a button in the driver's footwell? What happens when you try either or both of these?

I'll need detail please Rob. For example, in your previous post you said that you'd "bridged the contacts". I will need the wire colours or the contact numbers in order to understand what you're doing.

Simon

So probed the cables going into the switch and had power cut the cables going into the switch and bridged them and lock worked, so disassembled the micro switch and can’t get continuity on one side so took that side apart and it must be a break in the wire in the switch. Still testing when I have time atm

You usually need to swap the switch, which is a pain as the central metal collar corrodes in place.
I had to carefully cut mine with a hacksaw then replaced with the item from an E46 BMW (same part with a little adaptation needed for a perfect fit) and it's been fine since

The microswitch is an integral part of the tailgate glass opening handle and not a separate replaceable item.

So an E46 service item is clearly the proper approach.
