Default Kv6 power steering bottle

I have never seen a gasket ,rubber or otherwise ,fitted to my power steering bottle cap. Mine has never had one fitted since i had the car. I wondered if other members have a gasket or seal on their caps .? ....... as i have never changed or replaced my original !!

Yes, mine has an o-ring which I recently replaced as it was leaking

Ever since I've owned my car I've noticed fluid misting on the outside of the PAS reservoir so after reading your post I went out to check for a cap seal.

At first sight it appeared that I too didn't have one. But after wiping the fluid from the screw thread I found a very thin and hard 'O' ring seal compressed against the underside of the cap and tucked into the end of the thread.

Thanks for the link to the eBay item Matt.

Simon

I remember from my days of servicing espresso machines, the seals between the group heads and handles would go hard over time and not seal properly...so of course I'd replace them. I too noticed that my bottle was leaking slightly....I thought the seal was missing...but no, it was there just that it was no longer pliable and sealed properly. Bought the replacement and all good now....just like my coffee machines.
