Just to post up parts of an email received from gates regarding my request for belt manufacture dates printed on the belts themselves. ........ " Depending on where the belts were made, the date codes might look slightly different,but generally follow a similar structure. They could look like : 2163DS =day2, week 16, year 2023 manufactured in Dumfries , or they could look like : 343 NV = wk 34 , year ,2023 manufacture date in Nevers. " A second message goes on to read " There was a change that happened at the end of last year. Since there was a single number for the year, there was confusion on date codes , as the single digit IE : 3 could be confused between 2013 and 2023 year date. So now the new date codes look like the following : Example : 51623DS = day5 week 16 year 2023 made in Dumfries . The only difference would be for customer specific belts , but ALL automotive replacement belts should now have the above new date codes " The codes i received are as above and no others , but they do seem to follow a similar pattern to other belt manufacturers date manufacturers systems ,as posted before on here. These are the specific gates numbers of the codes from where they were produced, codes supplied by themselves and i have no further codes received from them to date. As mentioned in the message, these codes are the general stamping procedure and vary from manufacture depot especially the last 2 digits . I hope that this helps others to identify the code dates on Gates Belts and are specific only to them, but never the less very similar in principal to other belt manufacturers. I can't quite understand why they'd only use a single digit for the year code - as we've seen in this thread it's important to be able to distinguish between belts 2 and 12 years old.

I'm glad they're using a method that allows the exact year to be pinpointed now - but that's a heck of an oversight.
