What do the locking studs look like on the car do you have a photo of them, could you not get the little pegs welded then filed flat round the welds and try the socket again, or maybe try the one from the scrap yard but cut one of the pegs flat level, so the three pegs fit into the stud ? as the red dotted pegs look to be in the same place, so cut/file the yellow dot peg level? you have them in front of you is it viable ?
