I agree with klarzy. Lesser of two evils. A 'rubber' type impact adhesive needs a powerful solvent such as acetone or methylethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, etc. to soften and dissolve it. Wiping the surface with solvent and a rag will simply spread it and push it further into the fabric. The best way is to soak/submerge in solvent for a day or two, like in a dry cleaning process. In effect wash it out. Not really practical for DIY.
