Thanks bud, I have a friend called Ed who has a donor car in his back garden, a V6. He is going to strip out the brake hoses and he will swap mine for his. He very kindly donated his boot lid handle and a number plate light PCB, whic is now installed, up and running with new LED's. He is repairing the old one, so I can keep it as a spare. When it came off, the rubber seal was rotten and worn. I am hoping the mechanic, who prefers to be anonymous, will be able to check the brake pipes and finish changing the rear left ABS and bearings next week. He said he will do the brake hoses checks etc

As you know, my V6 will be 21 years old next month. I doubt that MG Rover ever visualised their cars would last for so long. I wonder how many other MGR's approaching the 20 year old mark will suffer from plastic/rubber hose corrosion. It is something to be aware of
