For now, the UK's target date for bringing an end to the sale of new cars with an internal combustion engine is 2040, some fifteen years later than the likes of Holland or Norway and IIRC ten years later than France. In practice, most manufacturers will have switched from ICE only to either pure electric or hybrid long before then and it's realistic to expect a radical change in the market for new cars over the next 5-7 years. Any of our cars which have survived even to that point will be rare enough by then that the type of fossil fuel they burn will be of less relevance - by say 2025, increased fossil fuel duty, VED and urban emissions charges will gradually restrict their use as daily cars regardless. I suppose there's always the "convert it to electric" option, a mere snip at fifteen grand today ...
