just to conclude!

I purchased some WD40 DRY LUBE and removed the panel under the steering wheel for a better view ( I don't have the kick panel in place)

I sprayed all the moving parts of the clutch pedal but there was no change. I then had a good around under there and decided that all the pedals look to be mounted onto a black plastic board of some kind, I am probably wrong but that's what it looks like. I then sprayed the WD onto the steel bulkhead just above the plastic panel in the hope that it would run down behind the panel. Success! I am now guessing that the creaking was this plastic panel moving slightly when pressing the pedal and rubbing against the steel bulkhead.

Anyway, I now have a silent clutch pedal.
