I think both look fine, however I think my platinum Maniks look pukka. Added bonus is that they are so easy to clean.....
I am in the process of refurbing my Unions, they will be for sale soon, club member will have first refusal as I think they would be looked after...
I have noticed a slight increase in road noise, but the roads around here aren't in the best of conditions. But handling is much better....
