Regarding K&N's, interesting views so far. I also have an in air-box K&N on my motorcycle. Never had them in my cars. I'm one of those that would usually change paper filters annually, as I do every thing possible before submitting cars for the emissions test! In the past that's been on a ZS, for which a paper filter can be got for ~£5 so it seemed silly not to. I'm considering a K&N as the filters for then ZT are more expensive, and I'm planning on keeping it a while.
Motorbike filters have to work ten times harder than their car equivalents as the revs are up around explosive limits for a car engine.
