Yep, colder the air charge the denser it is, denser the air more fuel you can add, more fuel and air equals bigger bang and more power. Simple.
Hence why turbo charged engines employ an inter cooler as compressing the air makes it hot and less dense even though it's compressed. By Cooling that pressurised air you get more weight of air in same volume.
