The kv6 can definitely be remapped, my old yellow V6 160 and my current 190 both had a reidy remap installed by tom force.
Obviously not as much an increased in power and torque as a turbo engine would get, but absolutely transformed both cars!
The 160 was faster than a standard 190, and the 190 is faster still with the new map! The best part of the remap though is the increase in torque low down, and the way it just has instant pull all through the rev range. It's also added approx 5-6mpg which isn't to be sniffed at on a V6!
