Not sure if our alternators are the same as this as I didn't delve this deep in to mine, but looks easy enough on a bench.

So unless the field coils go, it seems these alternators have virtually all the parts available for doing the home refurb. Bearings as well. Like yours, my bearings are still smooth at 167,000. A mere novice really.
I might pick up a cheap second hand one from a scrappy and a set of parts to refurb it. Then it strengthens the chance that because I'm prepared, I won't ever need it.
