Crikey that is bad - after the horror stories on here I had a really good look at mine last summer and jet washed them one week then wire brushed and rustproofed the next. But before bothering with all that I took a small hammer and checked everywhere I could for solid metal
Happy to say I found nothing but the nice "ring" of sold metal. I will be checking it all again this summer and applying another coat of wax ready for next winter.
I have heard that cars from the colder north of the country suffer more because of the road salt?? Not sure if that is true but when I jet washed mine out I was amazed at the sandy soil that came out.
