If it’s a long wait, you can ask for a set fee package for private self-pay. What increases the costs is the length of stay in hospital as a private patient. Medication can also be expensive as the tablets are brand names and not generic. When you have finished going private, you can go back to the NHS for follow up etc although you could check if that’s included in the package. Does that make sense?
I'm still waiting for the MRI appointment letter to come through, only been one week so far. I'm hoping to stay as a NHS patient, I really don't fancy paying the incredibly high prices that come with private treatment. I don't have healthcare insurance, I've never even thought about insurance TBH...

The NHS eventually came good with regards to my TN head and facial pain, but I suffered years and years of being pushed away...

Its terrible service really when you think about it, I think the NHS system only works when you are literally at deaths door, as was my father a few years ago. This is where I actually saw the NHS work as it was designed to do, but the system soon fails again when the patient gets released home.

I can see why so many people do go private, it seems all these surgeons and specialist's work mostly in the private sector, and give little time to their NHS work. Take my appointment that I had last week, it was at a private hospital, but I was seen as a NHS patient... If I ever get this MRI Phil, I will be amazed...
