It's Over.
This cannot be allowed to escape attention. After all the horrors of WW2, including pictures of the most awful human behaviour ever photographed, there was at least one joyous image that personalised beyond words the euphoria of the end of the conflict.
The photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt of an American sailor kissing a stranger in Times Square has been the delight of many and the sailor and the girl have inspired so much joy. Now that sailor, George Mendonsa, has died aged 95. George kissed Dental Assistant Greta Friedman on August 14th 1945 and Miss Freidman died in 2016 aged 92. Bless them both.
