Mine failed on same imbalance fault, changed compensator for Arctic SS fitted with original shoes and passed no problem. Shoes do nothing except hold car when parked so do not suffer wear generally, the drums though rust with loose rust scale trapped inside, prevention is to use handbrake on last few yards of movement when stopping keeping the drums relatively clean and clear.
