You should really start your own thread about this but briefly, it sounds as if your slow speed has failed which is very common. If you have the 'resistor' system it's very cheap to repair. If you have the earlier system it's best to talk to
Jules and
Arctic. I would advise against giving the work to the 'specialist' you mentioned, at least until you have received advise from us. You can search the forum for information on 2 speed fan systems.
