I realise that there are loads of factors affecting insurance costs but for my 18 year old (two and a half years ago) a ZT Diesel was cheaper to insure than an old Fiesta (1998) vintage. He kept it for 2 years although he did have a black box installed.
He has now bought a 1998 5 Series tourer 3.0 Diseasal now he has 2 years no claims.
