I'd be looking at the Starter motor. There is a small wire at the front of it that can play up. Remove it, clean the contacts, reconnect and try to start it.

Failing the above, I'd then rebuild the starter motor contacts - a rebuild kit is about a tenner (plus delivery) on ebay.

If it still fails to start, you've at least eliminated the starter motor from the equation, and you've rebuilt the contacts - so the starter should be good to go for many more years
