HI Joe.
You can fit the gold resistor while the fan is still on the car, you will have to remove the front bumper, then the crash bar, 4bolts and 1 nut either side of the crash bar.
You then disconnect the wiring from the main loom in the wheel arch, cut the wire on the silver resistor and pull through the black lead wire one at a time, strip & crimp, or solder, remember to add some heat shrink over the joint.
Once to have the wires connected pass the gold resistor back through the fan blade and screw back into place on the two tags the silver resistor was connected to.
