The rear brake shoe retaining pins are a very poor design as when the back plate corrodes, and they will corrode, the pins simply will not hold.

I used a long bolt with a flat head (you can machine the hex head if necessary) which passed through the original spring and through the back plate. You may need to drill the hole out.
Fit a nylon nut and small washer to the inner side of the back plate. Don’t tighten it up too much, just enough to allow the shoes to “float”
