I worked for Carillion who famously went bust Jan 18.
They gave us nothing.
The liquidators retained me and my team for a short while to negotiate the best deals to relocate the contracts that just had to be kept going (Maintenance of schools, hospitals, police stations, courts, surgeries.) we manged to relocate every single contract nationwide ( there were 117 IIRC) we negotiated the TUPE of staff even though it didn't apply and the new contract owners didn't have to honour T&C's, we saved many many job and lively hoods. We were dismissed within 24 hours of completing this with no further notice/correspondence other than an email thanking us for our work and giving us an end date followed up by a letter..
We could not claim statutory redundancy from the government until the redundancy period had elapsed, in my case 15 weeks. Even then it was capped Those were a very hard 15 weeks
. I can really feel for any Thomas Cook employees
