You can cut it but, I don’t recommend it. My diesel was cut before I bought it, and I think it weakens the tray, and also unless you have the cut in the right place, the oil when you are draining it from the sump can/does soak into the sponge that is on the tray to stop it rubbing and drubbing on the sump.
