There seems to be confusion here.
I fully agree only with that assumption regarding Biodiesel produced in the far East from palm oil.
Regarding the bioethanol E85 fuelling petrol cars, in France it's only produced from sugar beet coming from the mainland (Northern France) and does absolutely no harm to other growing areas, so tiny are the surfaces involved in the process. And mind that even with a huge increase of E85 consumption in France this year, we are still exporting our surplus so far. Hence we are self-sufficient.
