When I had just a feeble dribble of water coming from my washer jets, I thought I'd have a go at sorting it without removing the reservoir bottle.

If I remember correctly - I peeled back the under-bonnet insulation, then disconnected the water-feed from the Y piece, I then filled the reservoir with hot water (leaving the filler cap open) before using a stick pump fitted with a football adaptor pushed into the feed pipe to pump air backwards through the system, blasting the hot water and quite a lot of "gunge" out of the reservoir.
I did this until no more water was coming out, before repeating the process a further 2 or 3 times, until I was sure that only clear water was being forced out. I then refilled the reservoir, re-connected the water pipe and replaced the insulation.
I have since had excellent washers.

Hope this helps.
