An old but very useful post. My mate has bought himself a 54 reg mark 2 and whilst fixing the air bag fault he disconnected the battery and later found out that he needed to enter a code . As he didn't have one , he was ready to throw away the radio and just get another to save any hassle.
A quick search over a coffee and I found this post and after waiting for the radio to have a half hour break , it let us follow the instructions and we were back in business.
Thanks so much for the advice and we also had to press the right side button instead of button 6 !
