That's my thoughts.
But it's doing the same as it did with the old thermostat.
Hence the change of the items.
Coolant rises in header tank then over flows.
No sign of gas or air just rises over flows then drops.
Odd thing is we have only seen it happen when it hits the 100c and the fan kicks in.
Its always run a 93c unless in standing traffic.
Now runs at around 88c the starts to rise and don't like coming down.

Water pump was done 2 year ago and seems to work ok
Been taken to a garage who are mg rover specialist who say its head gasket.
