According to the Independent - the US is denying any military airbase deal
but that it has reached an agreement with Ecuador on combating drug smuggling in the area.
It looks like the Pentagon will use a USAF Boeing 707 (777 more likely?) specialist Radar Surveillance plane and a Lockheed Orian. Which have been given permission to use the tiny airport on San Cristobal Island.
Looks like a classic bit of “spin” by RT to me.
