Yes it's easy enough to get out of sync, I've done the same many many times, indeed did it recently at the BMC & Leyland show on the 1st luckily only once.
Now I always check the screen before shooting for the red record icon, made a little easier with my latest camera as the standby and record audible sounds are different.

Thanks Jim. My only defence is that the bright sunlight made the screen a little hard to see at times, but really, I've no excuses
. Was so annoyed with myself when I reviewed the footage
.
On the positive side, if I ever forget what shoes I was wearing on the day, I've plenty of footage to help me out
