Default KV6 petrol injector fitting

I'm now confused about the fitting of a replacement injector on a KV6 petrol engine. Basically, I've done this many times since I first owned one in 2007, so I should be familiar! This is my 3rd one, had it for nearly 2 years and trying to get everything in good order for the long term.
I had a little trouble today (turned out to be a split o-ring on the top of an injector) which caused a fuel leak after I had got it back together - not unusual I know. But I had trouble getting the electrical connector back on, it was being fouled by the square box-like clip that holds the fuel rail down on the injector (solved it in the end). It is this clip that is confusing me, was I putting it on right (after all these years!).
So, off to the Rimmers website to check it out for orientation. They don't show it! The fuel rail & injectors are shown as a single part along with the fuel rail, which they say is not designed to be taken apart (yeah right, not the way I repair things). But looking at the picture, there doesn't appear to be any clips fitted - is this a later modification?
Next, check on Rave. The square clip is there, and I was putting it on right. But the description & pictures are written around the original early coil type - so may be incorrect for later models? Mine is 53 plate late model mk1 btw.
Can anyone advise if the clip was later omitted? My tiny mind says it could be superfluous, as the 8mm bolts hold the fuel rail down on top of the injectors

One other thing. The electrical connectors (should) have a spring clip to hold them in place. Anyone got a couple going spare please?
