Snow foam is one of the first additions if/when you start getting into really cleaning/detailing your car.

I hadn't heard of it either and wondered if it was the proverbial Snake Oil.

Er, no, it isn't.

The idea is to wash away the dust/muck etc. before going anywhere near the paintwork with a sponge (or better a wash mitt) which will happily use the dust/muck to act like wet and dry sandpaper.

There's dozens but if, IMHO, you want one to try out then I'll very happily suggest Bilt Hamber Auto Foam (that Bilt Hamber company gets everywhere ).

You don't need special kit. Just a normal garden sprayer.

I do have the foaming kit but I don't bother anymore because it works just great without. You won't get the white "snow" effect but you will get really good cleaning. It isn't as much fun though and doesn't get the neighbours calling for the folks in the white coats with straight jackets .

Mix it up at 4% in hot water and spray it all over. I use about 4 litres in total do do an Estate/Tourer. That's about 160ml of Autofoam. A 5L bottle will do over 30 washes so you'd have to be pretty enthusiastic to use more than £15-£20 worth in a year.

Leave it to soak (aka dwell) for a few minutes (do NOT let it dry out) and wash off with a pressure washer.

Job done.

Hope that helps and apologies if I've been teaching granny to suck eggs.

Enjoy.

Andy.
