My alternator has died - I think !

Last week the message center displayed the message CHARGE FAIL, and the battery warning light came on. I was about 2 miles from home so drove straight back and parked up on driveway. The car is a 2004 facelift conni SE diesel saloon.

Yesterday I thought I would try it again to see if the fault had gone away - well you can be optomistically hopeful - but the battery was now flat! I assume that the alternator fault has drained the battery?

I have someone coming on Saturday to fit a replacement unit, and I will be supplying the new parts.

My questions are as follows :-

Looking on the EuroCar Parts site they offer 2 alternative fitments, how do I know which one to order as I cannot see any referances or part numbers on the alternator when fitted to the engine? and these appear to be a "to order" part only.

Are DAYCO belts OK ?
