The film that freaked me out, in a nice way, was Destination Moon. My father took me to the pictures (the only time he did!) when Mum was in hospital.

1950 and I was 7, it started in me a total awe in all things Space. The Eagle comic became vitally important to me. When an astronaut started to float off the rocket, because his magnetic boots were not flat on the shell, I swear I felt I was rising off the seat.

I found the DVD on Amazon 6 years ago and now relive my early years spent in the aftermath of a war. By the way, today is the 75th anniversary of the day the bomb under the map table didn’t kill Hitler.
