Made in much larger quantities than I had realised, it provided work for ex coal miners, suffering with mining related ailments.

I remember at junior school the police used to carry out road safety training from time to time and would set out the playground as road scenes with crossings, traffic lights etc and the highlight for us kids was that the pedal cars they used to bring were the Austin pedal cars.
